World’s Top Ranked Riders Lined up for International Competition at Palm Beach Masters Series®

When the 2019 Palm Beach Masters Series® gets underway, many of the world’s top ranked riders will congregate at the beautiful Deeridge Farms in Wellington, FL.

The list of international riders for the CP Palm Beach Masters Winter Classic CSI4*-W Presented by Suncast features a star-studded cast and schedule. The week’s feature event is the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Wellington, the penultimate east coast qualifier of the 2018-2019 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League; the 2019 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Slated to compete, among others, are four riders ranked among the top 10 of the current Longines World Rankings. World No. 4 McLain Ward will represent the U.S. as the top-ranked rider overall after anchoring his American teammates to team gold at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games™. He will be joined by Great Britain’s Ben Maher, who ranks seventh in the World; he won the Sovaro Palm Beach Masters Qualifier at Deeridge Farms in 2018. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Beezie Madden (USA), ranked ninth, won the 2018 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Jumping Final. The youngest of the group at 26, Martin Fuchs of Switzerland is ranked 10th.

“I have never been to the Palm Beach Masters, but I’m very much looking forward to it,” Fuchs said. “I have heard only good things about it.”

Fuchs made his Olympic debut in 2016 and achieved a career high when finishing as the individual silver medalist at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games™. He hopes to use his time in Wellington to form some new business connections and produce good results with his horses.

“I have had a great last year with lots of success,” Fuchs said. “The WEG medal was outstanding and something I will never forget!”

Of course, the American contingent is the strongest in size and scope. In addition to Madden, Team USA’s fellow two-time Olympic gold medalist Laura Kraut, 10-time American Grand Prix Association Rider of the Year Margie Engle, and Devin Ryan, runner-up at the 2018 World Cup Finals, are also among the group of FEI entries received. Ireland’s Daniel Coyle, defending Champion of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Wellington, is also entered and will look to defend his title.

“I’m very excited about the lineup of riders that we’ve assembled,” said Director of Sport Yvonne van Bergen. “To have four of the top 10 riders in the World is fantastic, and we have 12 foreign riders from the top 100. It’s an accomplished and very international group, and I think this will be just the start of the caliber of competitors we will see this season at Deeridge Farms.”
