Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Week CSI4*-W/CSI2* kicks off with horse inspection.
Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020 — Wellington, FL — The 2020 Palm Beach Masters Series® if officially underway following horse inspections for CSI4*-W and CSI2* competitors.
A total of 105 CSI4*-W horses passed inspection Wednesday morning at Deeridge Farms, following the acceptance of 186 CSI2* horses Tuesday afternoon.
A spectacular lineup of the world’s best showjumping athletes are slated to compete at the first of three world-class events this season, with this week’s feature, the $213,300 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Wellington, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 2, at 1:30pm ET.
Following their breakout wins in both the Suncast Palm Beach Masters Qualifier CSI4*-W and the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Wellington, Alex Granato (USA) and Carlchen W return to Deeridge Farms to defend their titles. Since their last visit, the duo went on to earn a team bronze medal while representing the United States in the 2019 Pan American Games (PER).
The week’s lineup also includes current World No. 1 Martin Fuchs (SUI). Fuchs made his Palm Beach Masters Series® debut in 2019 and won the CP Welcome Stake CSI4*-W before going on to win individual gold at the 2019 FEI European Championships in Rotterdam (NED).
Five of the World’s top 10-ranked showjumping athletes are present—Fuchs, Ben Maher (GBR, 4), Beezie Madden (USA, 7), Darragh Kenny (IRL, 8), and Kent Farrington (USA, 9).
The penultimate east coast qualifier of the 2019/2020 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League season, the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Wellington will help determine the seven east coast U.S. riders and three west coast U.S. riders that will qualify for the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Las Vegas (USA) in April.
A total of 12 of the top 13 in the east coast sub league standings, along with the top two riders from the west coast standings, are slated to compete this week at Deeridge Farms. This includes both sub league leaders—Brian Moggre (USA) on the east coast and Karl Cook (USA) from the west coast.
CSI4*-W competition begins Thursday, Jan. 30 at 10:00am in the Grass Arena with the $10,000 CSI4*-W Palm Beach Masters Warm-up.
